Aspen Traders offers high quality boutique brands, shoes, jewelry and handbags from over 100 different designers, all in a unique setting. Walking into Aspen Traders is unlike walking into any other boutique, the eclectic decor and furnishings are what makes us truly unique. With a focus on customer service, the staff strives to find each customer outfits that make them feel truly beautiful. Monica and James strive to provide product that will fit any style, from the boho beauties to the more classic gals, we have something for everyone! The Aspen Staff loves to help you find that special occasion dress or even just an everyday pair of earrings! About the Owners

Monica and James both grew up in Colorado Springs, CO. They met there on a blind date after college, fell in love right away and married in 1980. In 1984 the Smits' moved to Wichita, KS because James received a job offer as an exploration geologist. Monica has been inspired by fashion going back to her childhood and James was wanting to be self employed, so in the summer of 1987 they opened Aspen Traders in Wichita at its current location. Aspen Traders was popular from its inception. Monica is the clothing, accessory and shoe buyer, because of her natural talent and James is the jewelry buyer, because of his training in geology and jewelry making. They opened a second store in Leadville, CO in 2011 to enable them to be closer to their families and to be in the mountains. Monica and James currently live in Leadville in the Summer and in Wichita for the rest of the year. For over 30 years running Aspen Traders and providing quality fashion to their customers has been James & Monica's passion.
